One Cavan One Writer

Is a reading initiative which will be taking place throughout Co.Cavan during the academic year from September 2011 to April 2012. It’s aim is to develop an appreciation for reading and generate greater interest in books, literature and creative writing. While schools in the area - St. Mogue’s College and most of the primary schools will be participating in the project – it ishoped that people in the wider community will become involved in reading activities

The chosen author for this year is Siobhan Dowd and there 4 books in her collection

which will be available in all public libraries and local bookshops. The winning design for One Cavan One Writer Logo was created by John McGovern, Ballyconnell, a 2ndyear student in St. Mogue’s College. Highly commended for her design, was Shannon Dolan, Bawnboy, another St. Mogue’s student.

The launch of the project will take place, as part of Culture Night, on Friday 23rd

September in Johnston Central Library, Farnham St. Cavan starting at 6pm. All are
